How I stay motivated
When I started
Freshmen year in High School
How I started
Started playing water polo when I was a freshmen in high school (after I had been swimming for about 10 years). I immediately fell in love with the sport. It became my primary sport all throughout high school and I stayed active on water polo leagues year-round. It was much more exciting than swimming and a lot more interesting. I enjoyed the physical aspects of the game such as 'wrestling' your opponent. I also became very interested in the strategy in play tactics.I was recruited to UCSB's Division 1 team when I entered college and played on that team for two years, until I stopped to pursue triathlons full-time (due to the efforts I was investing into raising money for a non-profit organization that aided cancer research for lymphoma, an illness my mom was suffering from). Fortunately, she's better now and I still continue to pursue triathlons full-time. However, part of my swimming practice occurs in the water polo pool, when I play water polo with a club team
More 'interesting' than swimming laps...

Junior Olympics 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004
Team Captain of my High School Varsity and College water polo teams. In high school, I lead my team to the highest victory standing in our school's water polo program's history. In college, our team took 4th place in 2004 and 2nd place in 2005 in our division.
I've always been a great swimmer and runner and wanted to get into triathlons. I hopped on my mountain bike and started training. 2 months later I competed in my first triathlon (with a road bike I had rented from a local bike store). I immediately fell in love with the sport and have been perusing it ever since. About a month after my first triathlon, I purchased a road bike which I currently train on and compete with today.
Started playing with friends recreationally back in 1998 (while in middle school)
