Where do base umpires stand

It depends on how many base umpires there are, and what the game situation is. In most high school, youth league, rec league, and tournament games, there is only one field umpire.

With no runners on base, he should stand directly along the first base line, behind the first baseman, a few steps onto the outfield grass.

With a runner at first, he should move to the infield grass, and stand somewhere between the pitcher and second base. Stay on the right side of second base, but try not to get in the second baseman's way.

With a runner on second or third, he should stay on the infield grass behind the pitcher, but move to the left side of second base so he's closer to the lead runner.
