What are the rules for Free Agency?

After a player has played for six or more seasons on a 25-man roster, and if he is not on contract for the following season, he becomes a free agent. His original team can offer him salary arbitration, which the player can either accept or decline. He becomes a free agent if he rejects the deal, and he's then allowed to sign with another team. If he signs with another team, his original team receives draft picks in compensation for losing a player.
