I've been diving for 5 months (I'm almost 40) practising only the 1m springboard. Since my entrance in the water is quite low for the 2 1/2 tuck forward and 1 1/2 tuck inward, I was advised to attempt from the 3m springboard. Because of fear perhaps, when trying the 2 1/2 forward I smacked my eyes on the water, twice: for about 1 minute I lost my sight. Question: is it normal this kind of accident for a diver? I'm worried about my sight, also because of my age, so I don't know if giving up that kind of dive from 3 m and do it only at 1m.

I'm not a swimming/diving expert at all, but I would think that any loss of vision as a result of an awkward dive is quite a unique and specialized circumstance. In other words, I think you entered the water just right in such a way that the brunt of the impact was absorbed by your face. That's not to say it couldn't happen again, but I would think the odds of a recurrent incident would be pretty low.

That's happened to me too, from 1m, 3m, and 5. I think its a fairly common occurrence, and some studies have shown eye conditions in olympic divers. I think as long as it isn't causing other problems after those couple minutes, I wouldn't be too worried.
