I think you're probably ok to use a snorkle regardless of the number of laps you've swam. What specifically is your safety concern?

Hi Ricky,

Swimming with a snorkel is fairly common. Maybe it's the snorkel you are using? Finis makes a snorkel that's pretty popular. I've found a forum post about swimming with a snorkel that you might find helpful:

Try to get proper swimming workout with proper combination of rest, work, amount of each exercise.
Check ESwim workouts online, try to follow them. I am sure you will get better idea on how to use basic swimming equipment.
