Question in
I partially tore a ligament in my hip doing splits almost 5 months ago but my hip still hurts during grand battments and stretching. About how long does an injury of this type tend to last?

I'm not a physician, but I believe repairing a torn ligament takes roughly six to eight weeks. It also depends on the severity if the tear. Either way, I think 5 months is way too long.

My biggest concern is your rehab of the injury-- what did you do and for how long? Also, if you started to work out or rehab too quickly after the injury, this could have made things worse.

No problem at all. I hope you figure it out and have a speedy recovery!

I was on bed rest for nearly two weeks and did not stretch for nearly one month.

If there was no rehab involved that could be your problem. Rest does help, but you need to properly strengthen the area before you start working out and stretching normally again. The other possibility is the injury was worse than you thought.

I would definitely see a doctor, and in the meantime stay away from movements that aggravate your hip. Icing may help, but I don't think this will make the pain go away permanently. I hope this helps!
